Rod Ricciardi: How to Manage a Team

Rod Ricciardi has over 20 years of experience providing expert management to professional sales teams. He understands how to use the best qualities of every individual to make a team successful, and to work together towards a common goal.

Rod Ricciardi is no stranger to management, and he offers some tips to professionals hoping to one day become a part of a management team.

First, he says, is to establish an emphasis of communication. Rod Ricciardi recommends the establishment of an open office or business atmosphere, one conducive to employee communication. Allowing your team members the freedom to openly express their opinions and concerns can help to make for happier, more productive employees, says Rod Ricciardi, and can provide your team with valuable insight and awareness of potential inefficiencies and/or better ways to do things.

Rod Ricciardi also recommends providing your team with clear and easily discernible goals, and to encourage collaboration and cooperation to meet these goals. Lay down your company’s or organization’s expectations in a clear-cut and easy to understand manner, and provide incentives for teamwork. Rod Ricciardi says that combination of both team goals and individual goals helps the members of your team maintain their individuality while ensuring that everyone is working in harmony towards the same ends.

Hold periodic meetings. Make sure, says Rod Ricciardi, that you establish daily, weekly or monthly meeting times so that your team has the opportunity to stay apprised of changes or developments within your company or industry. This helps keep everyone informed and armed with the knowledge they need to make any necessary adjustments.
